Emotional Clean-out

They’ll always be in your heart.  I find more that the little things which I can hold in my hands make me look back and smile about my great-grandparents, and my grandfather who died.  I have my grandfather’s belt (big honkin country style belt buckle) that I wear from time to time, and a doll from my great-grandmother.  I also have a handwritten letter my great-grandfather wrote me when I was born that still stirs my emotions…

Tomorrow I have to start wrapping and moving things out of my grandparent’s house. I feel gutted. It will all feel so wrong and so final. Things that I have seen in the same place for 35 years will now move on. A house that I have been coming and going from will be sold. It will probably be sold to strangers. Strangers that will not truly know how it was built by hand, brick by brick, by my grandparents all those long years ago.

Well, there’s another all too familiar feeling. The sting of tears, again. The same pain that has haunted my family and I more times than we care to think about this year.

 I too have my grandfather’s belt buckle. It has a semi on it; he was a long haul truck driver. We found a World’s Greatest Grandfather certificate I gave him when I was young. The year was the year that my great-grandmother passed away too. Soo many memories are surfacing.

Laziness Prevails

So, in an homage to my roots, I bought myself some Hamburger Helper for dinner since I’m on my own for dinner this evening.

That said, I just ordered a pizza.  Fuck cooking.

 I so totally had pizza tonight too. Rock on Friday night food!

Loss

I will be observing some silent time for a while. My maternal grandmother passed away this morning. Hug your family for me.

My hair behaves much better since I had so much cut off and thinned. It is rather 80’s hair though, hee hee.
